South Yorkshire-based fencing company relocates to accommodate growing workforce

A Doncaster-based commercial and security fencing contractor is on track to further expand its workforce in the coming months following a strategic move to a new 1.7 acre site on Kirk Sandall Industrial Estate.

Established in 2001 with a team of six, Hall Fencing has grown exponentially in recent years - now employing 30 staff including a fabricator, joiner, fencer erectors and office personnel. Working with leading developers, schools and local government organisations, Avant Homes, Doncaster Council, Harworth Estates and Gleeson Homes are just a few of their current contractors.

The company turned to Business Doncaster, a partner of the Sheffield City Region Growth Hub Enhancement Project, for advice on achieving its growth ambitions and subsequently benefited from support on funding and apprenticeships, the development of supply chain links and for advice on relocating the business to accommodate the extensive growth plans.

The Enhancement Project is financed by the England European Regional Development Fund as part of the European Structural and Investment Funds Growth Programme 2014-2020.

Having recently finished building a 6,500sq ft purpose built warehouse on the site, the firm has increased its ability to deliver its services in line with continued demand from customers across the country.

The new premises on Kirk Sandall Industrial Estate is located just four miles from Doncaster town centre and Junction 4 of the M18 and, following the move, Hall Fencing will be looking to appoint further staff in its IT, Marketing & Sales divisions, as well as a Fabrication Apprentice.

The Enhancement Project also works to support growing businesses in the region by offering intensive one-to-one support from a Key Account Manager, or access to free Masterclasses delivered by private sector experts.

Nicola Hall, Director at Hall Fencing commented: “The Business Doncaster team has been very helpful, offering plenty of information and suggesting links with other local firms where there may be potential opportunities.

“Finding a new premises that met the needs of the business, both in terms of location and size, was a fundamental part of our future growth strategy, especially since demand from our clients is on the up!

“The support from Business Doncaster has played a huge role in enabling us to take these positive steps, and I am excited by the prospect of developing further in future!”

Michael Stanley of Business Doncaster added: “Having supported Hall Fencing in finding a new premises that can accommodate its future growth potential we are delighted that the team is now in situ. We are also delighted that the move has led to further job creation within the area which, in turn, will give an extra boost to the local economy - excellent news for Doncaster!”

Speaking of plans to create apprenticeship opportunities within the firm, Nicola added: “Apprenticeships play a vital role in helping young people become skilled in a profession, and making them more valuable to potential future employers. We’re working hard to get our Apprenticeship Scheme up and running and would like to thank Business Doncaster for all of its support to date.”
