Two proud Yorkshire businesses have lent their support to one of the regions most promising sports stars, in the form of a five-figure sponsorship deal with IBO Super Featherweight World Champion, Terri Harper.

Harper Lands Sponsorship Deal with South Yorkshire Duo

The Sheffield branch of plumbers’ merchant, Plumbase, on Parkwood Industrial Estate, and Doncaster-based manufacturer of piping and water and climate management systems, Polypipe, have agreed a £10,000 sponsorship deal with Denaby-born Harper, as she bids to build on her status as Britain’s youngest female world champion.

The sponsorship will give both brands a presence on Harper’s ringwear during what promises to be a thrilling next 12 months for the 22-year old, who defeated South Africa’s Nozipho Bell at the Magna Centre in Rotherham on July 19.

The sponsorship deal is rooted in South Yorkshire, with Harper originating from Denaby, just a short distance from both Plumbase’s Sheffield branch and Polypipe’s Doncaster head office. Having been put forward by Plumbase’s Sheffield branch manager, Steve Doran – a close family friend of Terri Harper – the sponsorship will see the two local businesses help to secure Harper’s status as one of the UK’s most promising professional athletes.

On her latest sponsorship deal, Terri Harper said: “It means a huge amount to receive the backing of two local businesses. Athletes in most sports would dream of the kind of support I’ve already been given by Plumbase and Polypipe, and I count myself as being very lucky to be backed by businesses with such strong roots in my home county. Thanks to their support, I can focus on training and becoming the best boxer I can be.”

Steve Doran, manager at Plumbase Sheffield, added: “Having known Terri since she was a young girl, I’ve always wanted to do all I can to help her to achieve her dreams as a professional boxer. Thankfully, through this partnership, we’re able to play our own small part in doing just that. Everyone at Plumbase is rooting for Terri and can’t wait to see her rise to stardom.”

Sean Rose, UFH Area Sales Manager Polypipe, said: “We’re a proud Yorkshire business and jumped at the chance to sponsor one of our region’s rising stars. The year ahead promises to be massive for Terri, and we’ll be looking to help her rise to the top in every way we can.”
