Leading drones retailer commits to safe and responsible retailing and provides free drone training and demos

Retailers Need To Play Active Role In Responsible Drone Use

Leading drones and unmanned aerial vehicle retailer DronesDirect.co.uk has pledged its commitment to helping ensure safe and responsible drone usage via a new Customer Charter, and is calling on other major retailers to follow its lead.

The DronesDirect.co.uk Customer Charter, which details the company’s efforts to provide free drone pilot training, safe flying demonstrations, responsible piloting briefings and best practice guidelines from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).

The Huddersfield-based retailer, which is one of the country’s largest retailers of drones, has the UK’s only dedicated in-store Flying Zone, allowing consumers to learn the safest way to pilot their drones.

By witnessing DronesDirect.co.uk’s qualified professionals fly drones in the Flying Zones, customers will leave with the knowledge they can fly their drone safely.

The retailer is also working with leading drone manufacturers to provide tailored training events for drone owners.

Tim Morley, business unit manager at DronesDirect.co.uk said, “It’s important that everyone who owns or operates a drone considers their own safety and that of others, and practices responsible, legal flying. We are committed to ensure drone owners are capable of using their new devices responsibly, no matter how large or small the drone in question, and in addition to providing details of the rules and guidance on drone usage on site, also provide free training in our purpose-built Flying Zone.

“Following recent headlines of the danger of drones, we want to educate and help consumers to fully understand their drone and how to fly responsibly before operating them in open spaces.

“Droning is no longer a hobby enjoyed solely by enthusiasts.  As it becomes more commonplace it is increasingly vital that their use is considered and responsible, and that all pilots work within with the CAA guidelines.”

DronesDirect.co.uk also provide an online flying knowledge hub with advice on how to operate and enjoy drones once they are taken home.

Sales data from DronesDirect.co.uk, shows the uptake of drones shows no sign of slowing, following the company experiencing their best ever sales during the month of April 2016.

The UK’s interest in drones has risen 32% in the past 12 months*, according to Google trends data, with searches peaking in December 2015, when many would have been searching for drones to give as Christmas presents.
